This. This is just one reason pride matters so very much. This is why churches who claim “all are welcome” but won’t let a queer person serve in ministry, be a member, or get married in the building are a dangerous farce. It’s literally a matter of life and death.
Tomorrow, my child will enjoy a relaxing morning at home, yummy treats, a backyard brunch with friends, and time with family. What they WON’T experience is the existential weight of an execution that occurred over 2000 years ago.
